Three national banks own more than 54 per cent of the total assets of national banks, according to an analysis conducted by Al Khaleej newspaper on the assets of national banks by the end of 2014.
The analysis showed that the assets of national banks grew by 10 per cent to Dhs1.74 trillion by the end of last year compared with Dhs1.68 trillion in 2013.
The total assets of three banks, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Emirates NBD and First Gulf Bank stood at around Dhs901 billion, accounting for 54 per cent of the assets of national banks.
National Bank of Abu Dhabi recorded the highest volume of assets of Dhs376 billion, up by 16 per cent, Emirates NBD aggregated Dhs363 billion, up by 6 per cent and First Gulf Bank gathered Dhs212 billion, up by 7 per cent.
