The Islamic Bank for Development has given the green light to a $100 million soft loan to Jordan, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said on Friday.
The loan will be used to fund an urgent health project in Jordan, the ministry statement said, adding that the loan agreement was reached during the participation of Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhouri in the bank’s Board of Governors annual meeting.
Under the agreement, $79 million would be provided as a soft loan, while the remaining $21 would be given as a grant.
During his participation in the meetings of the Jeddah-based Islamic bank, Fakhouri held a series of meetings with officials from international Islamic funding organizations. The minister discussed with those officials means to enhance ties between Jordan and their organizations.
