Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, has contributed AED200,000 to the Ministry of Community Development as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts for people with cognitive disabilities.
The amount will be used for the development of the Fujairah and Umm al-Qaiwain autism centres.
"We hope to empower the lives of those children who need special assistance by contributing to the growth of world-class disability-friendly facilities in the northern emirates. We aim to lead by example in public-private social responsibility through our work with organisations such as the Ministry of Community Development, and encourage others to do the same," Awatif Al Harmoodi, General Manager of Operational Governance at Emirates Islamic, said.
Through its Emirates Islamic Charity Fund, the bank is an active contributor to community health and development initiatives in the UAE, and has regularly made significant contributions to hospitals, healthcare programmes and social welfare institutions throughout the country.
"We highly value this initiative, which reflects the growing sense of social responsibility among institutions and members of society in the UAE. Emirates Islamic’s contribution reflects the UAE’s spirit of generosity and contributes to its commitment to support its citizens and make them the happiest people in the world," said Naji Al-Hai Mubarak, Assistant Under-Secretary of Social Development Affairs in Ministry of Community Development.
Al-Hai Mubarak said that the ministry looks forward to further co-operation with Emirates Islamic to help support those in need. "It is not surprising that an established institution such as Emirates Islamic has a clear footprint in the area of community responsibility, charity and humanitarian work," he added.
