A Bahraini delegation will take part in the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which convene today in the US capital, Washington. The delegation is headed by Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, with the participation of Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Rashid Mohammed Al Maraj. Promotional activities will be conducted by Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) to lure investments in the financial sector in Bahrain. Governors of central banks, ministers of finance and development, senior officials from the private sector and academics are taking part in the meetings to discuss issues of global concern like international economic development and eradication of poverty. EDB will sponsor the Institute of International Finance (IIF) annual forum, which will be held on the sidelines of the main meetings and which is expected to attract over 1000 delegations from all over the world besides the participation of IIF members. EDB is also the key sponsor of Bahrain banks annual reception ceremony which will be held on October 12 at Vermont Hotel, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and IMF, to shed light on the financial services sector in Bahrain. IIF is the sole international institute that comprises companies from the financial sector. EDB is a co-sponsor of this year\'s IIF forum.
