Intel is working on smartwatch

Intel\'s chief technology officer has confirmed the company is working on a smartwatch, although he would not address rumors of a collaboration with Apple. The timepiece is one of a range of \"experimental devices in the lab,\" Intel Chief Technology Officer Justin Rattner was quoted by VentureBeat, as part of the chip-maker\'s investigation of \"novel display devices.\" \"The watch is kind of -- if you want to put the time on it, that\'s fine. But if you\'re talking about texting today, wouldn\'t it be nice if you could just look at your wrist?\" A number of companies are working on a wearable mobile-connected device, with Microsoft rumored to be working on one, but most speculation has been focusing on Apple and a possible collaboration with Intel on a smartwatch with a 1.5-inch display that could hook up to an iPhone via Bluetooth to display incoming calls, emails, and calendar entries through a connection to the smartphone. Google has also announced it is currently developing a smartwatch that will connect to an Android smartphone.
