Sales for Apple’s new iPhone 4S smartphone will be launched in Russia at midnight, two months after its launch in the United States and at a higher price than the previous version. The handset will sell for 35,000 to 46,000 rubles ($1,120-1,500), depending on memory size, retailer, and color. The iPhone 4S will be priced higher than the iPhone 4 with the same memory size at the launch in Russia in the fall of 2010. Experts do not anticipate “panic buying.” “Given iPhone’s traditionally modest share of the Russian market (around 5%), as well as the declared prices, I do not expect any over the top demand for iPhones in Russia. There will be no deficit,” said Alexei Boiko, an expert with the MForum firm. The iPhone 4S was already launched in the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Australia, and Japan on October 14, selling over 1 million units on the first day of sales.
