Earlier this week the company officially entered into administration after months of financial problems. That move came after some publishers stopped it from selling their games. In the policy update sent out to stores by administrators PwC, it said the points can only be exchanged for pre-owned products. It\'s a decision which has got some customers of the troubled chain angry. Posting on Newsbeat\'s Facebook page David Robinson said: \"so, the points I built up with buying NEW games I can\'t actually spend on NEW games. \"Game, I\'m glad you are in the toilet.\" But Stu Branton was a bit more sympathetic: \"It\'s so hard to keep a company running in the current climate. \"Give them a chance and let them try before flaming them\". Thousands of redundancies Of the company\'s 609 UK and Ireland stores - 277 were closed by the administrators on Monday. That led to 2,104 staff being made redundant immediately. More job closures could follow. \"Our priority is to continue trading the business as normal while we continue to pursue a sale,\" said one of the administrators, Mike Jervis. \"The recent job losses are regrettable, but will place the company in a stronger position while we explore opportunities to conclude a sale. \"My team and I will be doing all we can to help the affected employees at this difficult time.\"
