Transportation and Telecommunication Minister Kamal bin Ahmed has affirmed the importance of Bahrain’s participation in Gitex2017 in Dubai, UAE.
It aims to keep up with latest development in information and telecommunication technologies (ICT) and boost Bahrain’s industrial sector at regional functions and increase its gross domestic product GDP.
He praised the efforts of Bahrain Society of Technology Companies (Btech) in organizing Bahrain’s national pavillion in Gitex for the eleventh year consecutively.
During the society’s annual gathering, the minister affirmed his keenness on supporting the private sector’s technology firms. The minister affirmed the importance of efforts to build fruitful relations in this vital sector. He added that Btech presence will grow locally and regionally as long as its membership increases, which will bolster the public and the private sector partnership for development of the ICT sector in Bahrain.
He urged telecom firms to work jointly to boost their capacity to compete in the reginal and global markets citing the efforts of the government in building the knowledge-based economy and diversification of income sources.
Btech Society Chairman, Obaidli Al Obaidli, praised the minister’s efforts in supporting and developing the sector and sponsoring the society’s activities to boost its role as a bridge between the public and private sectors.
He cited the minister’s support to the Bahraini national pavilion in Gitex which is expected this year to host the participation of 45 exhibiters representing ICT establishments from the public and private sectors.
