Head of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority Hisham el-Alayli said on Monday that the unified entity for communications infrastructure, which is scheduled to be established after the issuance of the unified telecom license, will not be an alternative to Telecom Egypt.
"The new entity will not affect Telecom Egypt's ownership of telecommunications infrastructure," el-Alayli told MENA.
"The authority stands at the same distance from all telecommunications companies working in the Egyptian market," he said.
He added that the authority does not force any company to contribute to the new entity.
"We only seek to improve and upgrade the service," he stressed.
