A French delegation, headed by France Ambassador Christian Nakhla, discussed with officials of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) ways to boost joint scientific, research, and technical cooperation between the two countries.
The KISR seeks to cooperate with prominent scientific and research institutes in France, particularly in the field of water desalination via solar energy, which is considered as most advanced technology, KISR's Director General Dr. Naji Al-Mutairi said in a press statement, urging to use and benefit from solar energy in best ways.
Al-Mutairi expressed KISR's welcome to cooperate with various scientific and research institutions, as well as its ambition to consolidate international relations in order to benefit from its joint projects and expertise of well-renowned international scientific institutions for Kuwait's interest.
The KISR has several projects concerning renewable energy with a number of Kuwaiti bodies such as Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS), oil sector, ministries of electricity and water, and education, Al-Mutairi mentioned.
Projects include electricity generation using photoelectric solar energy and Al-Shaqaya renewable energy complex, which is the first of its kind in the world to include three different types of renewable energies; solar, wind, and photoelectric cells, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the French delegation commended the KISR's expertise and advanced projects, stressing the importance of speeding up joint cooperation between the KISR and French scientific bureaus in the fields of water desalination, renewable energy, in addition to advanced scientific, technical, and applied projects.
