The international space station (ISS) will be clearly seen from Kuwait at 3:05 a.m. dawn time on Thursday, flying from the northwest to the northeast of the country, announced the astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun on Wednesday.
In remarks to KUNA, he said the space station will be clearly seen because it will move closer to the earth, adding that it will cross the Kuwaiti skies in five minutes. It will be flying some 610 km from Kuwait, he said.
The ISS flies at a speed of 27,007 kph, a single round around the earth every 90 minutes and 15.7 circles per day. Its maximum altitude from earth is 360 km.
The international station that was put into orbit in 1998 is financed by an international consortium comprising the US, Russia, the EU, Canada and Brazil.
