The UAE's Human Appeal International (HAI) has donated 73 educational notebooks for grade 10 students at the Arab Institute for Orphans in Jerusalem, as part of NETKETABi project (My 'netbook' in Arabic), a multi-dimensional educational solution that aims to build the competencies of Palestinian youth.
The donated touchscreen-enabled computers are embedded with a diverse educational content including Arabic-language books, the curriculum approved by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education and other material, to enable school students lacking regular Internet access to continue to learn offline.
Ibrahim Rashid, Director of HAI's office in West Bank, said this assistance is part of the HAI's efforts seeking to secure a social safety net for more than 20,000 orphaned children it sponsors with an annual budget of US$8 million.
NETKETABi works by making e-learning and interactive content available to children who have different learning styles and abilities. Users can browse a vast range of different learning resources - from virtual textbooks and animations to full courses with online resource provider Khan Academy - and engage with them at their own pace. It's an approach carefully developed to promote creativity and independent thinking.
