An exhibition on the modern technologies used by the services of the National Police to protect people and property was inaugurated Monday at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Centre in Algiers. Minister of Interior and Local Authorities Tayeb Belaiz chaired the official inauguration of this three-day event along with National Police Chief, Major general Abdelghani Hamel and representatives of the civil society. On this occasion, the minister visited the exhibition stands where he inquired about the different information and communication technologies used in the services of teh National Police to address crime. Maakouf Zineddine, divisional superintendent and director of technical means at the Directorate General of the National Police (DGSN), presented an overview on the activities of his department, equipped with modern means in terms of controlling vehicles, identifying criminals and dismantling drug trafficking networks. For his part, Divisional Superintendent and Central Director of the Scientific and Technical Police Ali Ferrah presented a speech on the role and missions of the scientific police. The official emphasized the importance to resort to new technologies to address crimes, successfully conduct criminal investigations, determine the scientific evidence and to establish reliable database.
