The world body specialized in research centers ranking "Webometrics" ranked Algeria first in the Arab world, said Tuesday the general manager of scientific research and technological development in the Ministry of higher Education and scientific Research, Abdelhafidh Aourag.
In its latest rankings issued on Monday, Webometrics ranked "Algeria in first place in the Arab world and second place at Africa after South Africa."
Webometrics is headquartered in Spain, conducts every six months a global rankings with over 10,000 international centers of scientific research.
The body has ranked the Research Centre on Scientific and Technical Information (CERIST) of Ben Aknoun (Algiers) at the 292nd place worldwide, against 897th last January.
It also ranked the Centre for Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology (CRASC), located in Oran, in 737th place globally, while holding the 2658th place last January. The Development Centre of Renewable Energies (CDER) in Bouzareah, meanwhile, was ranked 895th in the world.
