Respondents in a U.S. survey, most notably younger ones, said they prefer watching video entertainment on physical media rather than streaming it. In a survey by SAY Media of 1,100 likely bipartisan voters in the upcoming 2012 presidential election, 9 percent said they primarily watch video content via DVD compared with 7 percent who consume video by streaming via laptop or PC, media players, Apple TV, video game consoles or portable media devices, Home Media Magazine reported Tuesday. Among voters between the ages of 18 and 44, 10 percent said they preferred physical media, while 8 percent said they preferred streaming or watching on a mobile phone. Eight percent of voters older than 45 preferred physical media compared with viewing on a laptop or PC (4 percent) or streaming (4 percent.) No respondents older than 45 said they watched video on a mobile phone or related portable media device. However, a majority of voters surveyed, 57 percent, said they still consume most video through broadcast TV, while 17 percent said they primarily watch recorded content on a DVR. A margin of error for the survey wasn\'t provided.
