A parliament member of Lithuania proposed protection of information space to be established in the Law on the Basics of National Security, according to ELTA's report on Friday. Mantas Adomenas, a member of the Seimas, or the Lithuanian parliament, hoped the long-term national security enhancement programs, including the protection and enhancement of information space, would end the increasing influence of hostile countries, according to ELTA. Adomenas said the aggression against a country in this century could be conducted through military invasion and information with a goal to influence the public opinion, reduce citizens' loyalty and trust in the state. Lithuania's legislation does not regulate or control protection of information space, despite information warfare is the most potent destabilization instrument in the 21st century, according to Adomenas.
