The Lebanese will be able to access the Internet beginning Friday, according to a statement issued the same day by state telecoms body Ogero. Ogero’s technical teams were able to make functional three reserve cables which will eventually ensure 6 Gigabytes of Internet capacity, the statement said. It added that Ogero’s teams are working with their counterparts in Egypt until the IMEWE (India-Middle East-Western Europe) submarine cable is fully repaired. Telecoms Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui traveled to Cyprus Friday morning in an attempt to resolve the issue. \"Changes have just been applied ... This will increase the speed back back to normal all over Lebanon,\" Sehnaoui tweeted Friday afternoon. In comments to Al-Jadeed television channel, he said that Cyprus agreed to provide Lebanon with Internet cables for 15 days free of charge. Sehnaoui added that repairing the IMEWE cable could take a week or even more, but denied that the problem encountered by 3G users has to do with the Internet blackout. Lebanon suffered from two nationwide Internet blackouts this week. The first one took place Monday while the other occurred Wednesday night and in the case of many people lasted until Friday. he tex
