The Green Building Lab of Engineering Materials Lab Section at Dubai Central Laboratory has developed a new system to measure the thermal conductivity of thermal insulation materials, products and heterogeneous green building components using a hot plate technique. This was announced by Eng. Ameen Ahmed, Acting Director of Dubai Central Laboratory of Dubai Municipality. Ameen said that this service is the first in its kind in the region and the device is considered as the most advanced equipment which has used the best technology available in the global market. \"This device can contribute to the quality control and examination of a wide range of engineering materials and construction products available in local markets in different shapes and sizes such as wood, plastic, glass, cotton, cork, leather, limestone, granite, ceramic tile, rubber, dry mortar, bricks of various kinds, concrete, cement, cement slabs, gypsum, clay, wood chips, chemicals, heat insulating materials, insulating materials to humidity, vapor in addition to a lot of other materials in the market,\" he said.
