Queen Rania Al Abdullah (C)
Amman - Arab Today

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah made a visit on Monday to Ad-Dulayl in Zarqa governorate where she dropped in on one of the public schools in the area and checked on the work of Ad-Dulayl Women’s Society for Special Education.
At Ruba Ad-Dulayl Primary School, Her Majesty witnessed up close a special education class for hearing and speech impaired students. This class was equipped by Ad-Dulayl Women Society for Special Education using funds granted by the European Union.
Her Majesty passed by other classrooms and spoke with the school principal and teachers about the challenges they face as a result of the overcrowded classrooms due to the fact that the school, being the only primary school in the area, has welcomed a large number of Syrian students. Queen Rania then visited Ad-Dulayl Women Society for Special Education to check on its work and the services it provides for the residents in the area.
Since it was established in 2003, the society provides assistance and rehabilitation services to people with special needs and supports local residents in starting their own income generating projects.
Her Majesty passed by a physiotherapy class where a female physiotherapist had a session with a Syrian disabled child trying to help him recover from an injury. Her Majesty also checked on two other classes for students with disabilities where the teachers were trained and certified by Handicap International.
In addition to physiotherapy services, the society currently works with Syrian female refugees and provides them with needed psychosocial support. Queen Rania attended part of one of these sessions that addressed different psychological and social challenges facing Syrian refugees including women rights, education, marriage and health. Also at the society premises, the Queen met with members of the local community who received micro-loans from the Community Centers Association (CCA) to start their own income generating projects. Her Majesty praised attendees for their efforts and determination to improve their income and livelihoods.
Chairman of CCA Dr. Sari Naser thanked Queen Rania and said that Her support motivates them and pushes them to reach out to more beneficiaries.
CCA believes in providing a holistic approach to improve the economic and social conditions of local communities. It has been working with residents of Ad-Dulayl under the third phase of the Poverty Pockets program which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Planning.
