Meanwhile, in South Sudan, women are demanding to exercise their right to rebuild their nation and plan for its future. Africa’s newest nation remains one of the world’s poorest countries, with just 30 miles of paved roads and only 15 percent literacy. An International Engagement Conference on South Sudan, IEC, took place in Washington DC in the US, to help raise money and discuss development planning for South Sudan. Mary Kojo, Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare spoke to Jocelyne Sambira about the priorities for South Sudanese women.
