The 131st assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) will be held from 12 to 16 October in Geneva (Switzerland) under the theme “Achieving gender equality, ending violence against women.”
During the assembly, which will see the participation of 744 parliamentarians from 141 countries including Algeria, MPs will meet to “address the threats to peace, security and human rights,” according to this meeting’s organizers.
The participants in this assembly will decide on the actions they can take to address the growing threats to peace, security and human rights, including violence against women and elect IPU’s new chairman.
They will also be called to adopt an emergency resolution on the “pressing international issues.”
The current proposals include the fight against terrorism and extremism, protection of Palestinian people’s rights, the settlement of crises relating to sovereign debts as well as fight against trafficking in human beings.
