Registration for the Sharjah Ladies Duathlon is still open to all women and girls aged 15 or over, according to an announcement from the Sharjah Ladies Club, SLC.
The first of its kind in the Emirate of Sharjah, the sporting event is set to feature the twin disciplines of running and cycling, and will take place this coming Friday, from 06:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the perimeter of Al Qasimia University campus.
Interested persons can enroll as individuals or as part of a team in the race, which comprises a 2.5 kilometre run followed by cycling for 9 kilometres and then another run over 2.5 kilometres. Registration can be carried out online at SLC’s website.
Sharjah Ladies Club will provide participants with the necessary sports equipment to compete in event. First place winner in the individual category will receive a cash prize of AED7,000, second place will get AED6,000 and the third place will win AED5,000. In the team category, the cash prize for the first place is AED9,000, the second place is AED8,000 and the third place is AED6,000.

SLC is always keen to organise health and physical fitness activities that play a key role in developing their capabilities, meet their aspirations and showcase their prowess. In doing so, we are able to shed light on the importance of sport for women and promote these sports in the community in a private yet entertaining and activate atmosphere," said Khawla Al Serkal, Director-General of SLC.
