15 Brownies and 25 Guides have taken part in the Sharjah Girl Guides, SGG, recently concluded second Sleepover Winter Camp.
Themed ‘Under the Moonlight’, the event sought to instill a sense of responsibility and enhance the girls’ self-confidence, develop their leadership talents and hone their team building skills. SGG also organised an array of thrilling fun-filled activities to expand their basic camping abilities.
The camp’s spectrum of adventures included zip-lining, survival skills, raft building, kayaking, canoeing, a houseboat exercise, rock-climbing and human foosball, in addition to other leisurely activities such as an outdoor cinema and a photo booth.
Shaikha Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Manager at Sharjah Girl Guides, said: "Given the remarkable success of the first Sleepover Camp in January 2016, we decided to hold the second camp at the same time as the winter holidays, and that has helped us to organise more advanced activities for both Guides and Brownies."
Al Shamsi emphasised that in addition to developing social and leadership skills, the camp challenged the girls to complete practical projects such as building their own tents, finding shelter and following safety and survival procedures in the outdoors.
The SGG is planning to organise its third Sleepover Camp in beginning of next year at Sir Baniyas Island.
