Minister of State for Information Affairs Samira Ibrahim bint Rajab has affirmed that Bahraini women have gone far beyond the stage of empowerment and reached advanced levels in all fields. She noted that under the Bahraini constitution, they enjoy all laws that guarantee their rights which can exceed those of their counterparts in developed countries in which women are discriminated against in many fields, such as salaries. In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the symposium on \"The Image of Women in Arab Media\", organised at the Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in collaboration with the German Embassy in Bahrain, she said that Bahraini women have had access to high leadership positions, become decision-makers, participated effectively in the Legislative Authority and represented the kingdom exceptionally well in the biggest countries. \"In Bahrain, we need to ensure the sustainability of the empowerment enjoyed by women, and we are facing all attempts to cancel Bahraini women\'s legal and constitutional rights,\" noting that the hidden political agenda are behind the stereotyped image of Arab women in the media. She stressed the need to improve the media discourse so as to change such stereotyped image.
