Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired today the second meeting of SCW. The council extended heartfelt thanks to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for issuing a number of orders and royal decrees to further empower Bahraini women and boost their role in the national development process.
The Supreme Council for Women hailed the positive outcome of the parliamentary and municipal elections which secured three parliamentary and three municipal seats for women. It also hailed large popular participation in the elections which reflected high political awareness of Bahraini citizens.
The council praised the efforts of BDF and the Interior Ministry to ensure success of Bahrain Women's Day 2014 which was dedicated this year to celebrate the achievements of Bahraini women in the military field.
The SCW reviewed reports by its Secretariat General on various women-related issues and functions including Bahraini women's participation in 2014 parliamentary and municipal elections, the second exhibition on job opportunities for women which was held last October and Bahrain's participation in a high profile forum last November in Jordan.
