Filipino servants working in Morocco have established a syndicate to defend their rights as a number of servants have been raped and tortured, it has been revealed. The action came as a number of Moroccan rights organisations raised concern about the reported testimonies of torture. A Statement issued by the syndicate revealed that over 3,000 Filipino servants are working in Moroccan houses, without being assured their rights. One reported case was that of a worker who had been deported after being raped by a former Moroccan official. Lawyer Mohamed Bolman said that despite consecutive complaints submitted by the servants, Moroccan authorities have yet to take any action.
