The Ministry of Social Affairs has announced the launch of the second in a series of training courses in the northern region as part of the Tamkeen Al-Mar’at programme. The Tamkeen Al-Mar’at - Empowering Women programme seeks to provide women with the vocational training necessary for their enhanced participation in the workforce. The initiative, launched under the auspices of HE the Minister of Social Affairs, Nasser bin Abdullah al-Humaidi, is sponsored by RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) and involves the towns of Ruwais, Al Khor, Al Dhakhira, Al Kaaban, Ain Sanan, Al Ghwairiya, Al Khisa and Umm Salal. The training programmes, offered by Al-Fursan Training and Consultancy Centre with the support of RasGas, are hosted by Qadrat Human Development Centre in Al Khor. The first of the three courses, targeted at Qatari housewives, offered training in administration, law and leadership through a number of interactive workshops and classes. Some 38 participants successfully completed the 120 hours of intensive training and received their diplomas in project management at a graduation ceremony. HE Ahmed al-Nasr, Undersecretary for Ministry of Social Affairs, and Erhama al-Kaabi, RasGas Employee Development & Welfare Group manager, in addition to other ministry officials and RasGas employees attended the graduation ceremony Al-Nasr called on the women of the northern region to seize the opportunity to join the Tamkeen Al-Mar’at programme, which is specifically designed to meet women’s professional needs. “The programme is being offered to women with current employment thanks to the support of RasGas, a company that has proven to be a committed partner in the development of Qatar’s human resources”, al-Nasr said. Erhama al-Kaabi, RasGas Employee Development & Welfare Group manager, asserted the company’s commitment to any project that contributes to achieving Qatar’s National Vision 2030. Al-Kaabi stated that RasGas is proud to be working in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Al-Fursan on the Tamkeen Al-Mar’at programme. Al Kaabi added: “This second training course, targeted at working women, aims to enhance women’s capacity and ability to fully participate in the social and economic sphere of our society in line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030. This course will help participants improve their career and business opportunities while maintaining a healthy family life”.
