Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), praised the efforts which led to the setting up of the council as an institutional establishment. She lauded the council's development as a specialised consultative institution in women's affairs acting under the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
HRH Princess Sabeeka was speaking as she chaired today the fifth meeting of the council's fifth session. She said the achievements brought about for Bahraini women since the launch of the royal reform project reflect a political will to empower women, support them in taking up leading posts and provide them with equal opportunities to build a promising future for the homeland. She also commended the efforts of the legal institutions in Bahrain and their sincere interaction with the Bahraini Women's Day this year.
The council was informed about a report by the Secretariat General on the national plan for women empowerment (2013-2022) and a report on the achievements made during the council's fifth session (2014-2016) as well as main local and international initiatives and activities.
