HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, advocate for the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, arrived Monday in the Sudanese city of El Obeid for a field visit to the projects of Silatech foundation and Education Above All Foundation in the city.
She was welcomed by North Kordofan Governor Ahmed Haroon and a number of ministers.The people of El Obeid hosted a ceremony at the Freedom Stadium to mark the visit of HH Sheikha Moza. The North Kordofan governor gave a speech in which he thanked HH Sheikha Moza for her support for the education and employment sectors in Sudan and the positive influence it has on the residents of the state.
In turn, HH Sheikha Moza thanked the people of El Obeid for the ceremony and renewed her pledge to support the people of Sudan through education and employment.The ceremony featured Sudanese and Qatari dances performed by school students.
HH Sheikha Moza, founder and board chairman of Education Above All Foundation, then visited the Alternative Learning Program (ALP) and spoke with students, teachers and staff at the center that is supported by the Education Above All Foundation's program of Educate A Child (EAC).
Through its respective partnerships in Sudan, EAC aims to enroll more than 622,000 out-of-school children by the end of 2018.In addition, HH Sheikha Moza visited an exhibition dedicated to beneficiaries of the Silatech foundation, which was established and is chaired by Her Highness. The exhibition highlights the projects of those people benefiting from the current partnership between Silatech and the Agricultural Bank of Sudan.
