The project for the creation of a fund for divorced women, having the custody of their underaged children, will be examined in the next council of ministers, announced Thursday in Batna (435-km east of Algiers) Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
The bill relating to the protection of women against all kinds of violence will also be examined in this council, said Sellal in a press conference at the end of his working visit to the province of Batna.
The government examined and adopted last week these two bills which will be submitted to the Parliament shortly, he said.
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika instructed, on the occasion of the International Women’s day (8 March 2014), the government to consider the creation of a fund for divorced women who have the custody of underaged children.
"The Family Code, amended in 2005, has contributed to establish more equality between the husband and wife, a better protection of minor children and more family cohesion. However, it is still perfectible regarding some material aspects, such as the difficulties encountered by a number of divorced mothers who have got the custody of minor children, and obstacles in getting the alimony meant for supporting their children".
