The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, DFWAC, recently received a delegation from the Family Protection Department from Jordan, to learn about the foundation’s experience in the field of protection and care of victims of violence and human trafficking, and discuss ways of cooperation and exchange of experiences, where they were received by Shaikha Al Mansouri, Assistant Director-General for Corporate Support, and Maryam bin Theneya, Communication Director.
The delegation was briefed during the visit on the latest scientific practices that DFWAC followed in the sheltering and rehabilitation of victims of violence, including play therapy sessions and family rehabilitation, as well as the programmes and services provided to them throughout the rehabilitation period, such as legal, health and education services, as well as programmes to allow them to enter the job market.
The Jordanian delegation also learned about the mechanisms of receiving cases and dealing with them through DFWAC’s helpline, 800111, which works 24 hours a day and provides immediate assistance and consultancy services in a variety of languages.
The delegation also reviewed statistics on the cases of violence and human trafficking taken in by the foundation, and the initiatives and campaigns carried out during 2016 in raising awareness about the issues of violence against women and children.
Shaikha Al Mansouri stressed that both the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children and the Family Protection Department Directorate of the Jordanian Public Security are involved in the same general objectives of addressing violence against women and children and strengthening family ties, which made this an important visit to exchange expertise and knowledge.
Al Mansouri added that DFWAC welcomes the building of partnerships with various entities in the field of protection and care of women and children, both inside and outside the UAE, in accordance with its strategic plan, expressing her hope that this visit will be the beginning of a bigger cooperation and partnership with the Family Protection Department in the future.
The Jordanian delegation praised the services and the efforts of the Dubai Foundation to care for victims of violence and human trafficking, stressing that the visit was fruitful for both parties and will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the parties' efforts to protect the community from all forms of violence against women and children.
The Jordanian delegation included Brigadier General Walid al-Battah, Assistant Public Security Director of the Judicial Police, Colonel Dr. Atallah Al Sarhan, Director of the Family Protection Department, Lieutenant Colonel Sadiq Al Omari, Head of the Judicial Division of Family Protection Department, Captain Ahmed Abu Naseer, Head of the international Cooperation Department, and Zeina Jadaan of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR.
The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Isaac Mazmi Shaheen, Director of the Department of Management, and Tahnoon Mohammed Taher, of the Women and Children Protection Department from the General Department of Dubai Police Human Rights.
