Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, DFWAC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Organisation for Migration, IOM, in order to coordinate joint efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for victims of abuse, trafficking, and foreign workers who have suffered violations.
As per the MoU, signed by Afra Al Basti, Director-General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, and Iman Younis Ereiqat, Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration in Kuwait, to coordinate the various efforts and activities, and exchange of documents and data, as well as to collaborate in conducting joint studies in the field of human trafficking.
"The International Organisation for Migration is one of the most important international bodies that work with Dubai Foundation for Women and Children in many joint areas, and the signing of this memorandum will be an important addition to both parties by enhancing their various community efforts," said Al-Basti.
She added that Dubai Foundation for Women and Children is constantly seeking to learn about the latest international practices in the fields of caring and protecting women and children from abuse, and the methods of applying such practices, saying that it has accumulated good experience in the field since its establishment, thus making it eager to develop new partnerships with different international or local authorities with the same concerns.
Al Basti explained that the signing of this Memorandum establishes the foundation for the construction of a new stage of collaboration, where both sides hope to produce a series of new and unique initiatives that serve the common goals and interests of the community and its members.
Iman Ereiqat said, " IOM is honoured to be signing this MoU with the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, a leader in providing assistance and protection to those in need in the UAE and a best-practice, standard-setter across the GCC."
The Memorandum stipulates collaboration between both sides in the areas of shelter service and social and psychological care for women and children who are exposed to violence, family empowering and promoting relations, and developing the research about related social issues, and to promote community awareness to eliminate all the forms of abuse through educational outreach.
