The Supreme Council of Women (SCW)'s General Secretariat participated at the Fourth Arab Women Leadership Forum (AWLF2014) in Dubai titled "Towards a Global Competitiveness" hosted under the patronage of United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s VP, Premier and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai, UAE.
The forum focused on a number of topics pertaining to global competitiveness, shed light on multi-factors which boost the role of women in economic growth and women's contribution in the development and building process in various fields.
Discussion on the first day covered various topics topped by women and the economy, women's contribution and influence in national competitiveness, political participation of women in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-member countries and legislative perspective of gender gap
Second day discussed competitiveness and women's participation in the private sector, useful ergonomics (i.e. workplace environment), policies which help women employees retain jobs, entrepreneurship and its impact on the margin of competitiveness.
The Arab Women Leadership Forum is an annualised conference organised by the Dubai Foundation for Women aimed to boost the role of women and their contribution in the economy and inspire next generations of women to effectively build the homeland. The forum also provides the participants from both genders the opportunity to engage in discussion and dialogue sessions with participation of outstanding international think tanks.
