A 47-year-old Filipina succumbed to fatal injuries she received after the motorbike she was riding collided with a car in Ras Al Khaimah.
According to a top police officer, the mishap took place late on Sunday opposite the Al Hamra Mall in the emirate.
The central operations room of RAK Police, having been alerted of the collision, dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site.
Col Ahmed Saeed Al Sam Al Naqbi, deputy director general of the traffic and patrols department, RAK Police, said the victim could not make it and died on the spot.
"Initial enactment of the mishap shows that the accident was blamed on the victim who entered the road without first checking if it was clear on the other direction."
Unfortunately, there was a car driven by a 34-year-old Arab resident coming on the other direction. "He tried to avoid collision with the victim, but in vain."
The impact of the accident was so terrible that the victim bled excessively, and was declared dead on the site, he explained.
"The corpse of the deceased was moved to the morgue of the hospital for burial by relatives."
Col Al Naqbi said the accident file was referred to the bodies concerned for legal procedures.
"All drivers are urged to be focused on the road and observe traffic rules and regulations for road users' safety and theirs."
So many gruesome accidents have been blamed on drivers' failure to check if the road was clear, he underlined.
"The motorbike was totally damaged while the saloon car driven by the Arab resident was partially affected."
A 37-year-old Asian resident was also killed in a road accident in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday. "The victim succumbed to fatal injuries he received after the refrigerated box truck he was travelling in with his friend, the driver, rammed into a lamp post here."
