The Arab High Level Conference on Beijing+20 towards "Justice and Equality for Women in the Arab Region" will be held in Cairo on February 2-3.
The regional conference will bring together senior governmental officials, policy makers, and international/regional entities to endorse the conclusions of the Regional Review Report on the Implementation of Beijing Platform for Action in the Arab Region.
It will also re-affirm the principles of Beijing Declaration and commitment to its Platform for Action.
Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil el Araby, ESCWA's executive secretary Rima Khalaf and United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will deliver speeches in the conference.
The Beijing Declaration was adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in 1995, and reaffirmed in 2000 during the 23rd Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
