Preliminary court in Kabul sentenced four people to death and eight others each to 16 years of imprisonment for the killing of a woman after being falsely accused of burning the Quran.
18 people were announced not guilty in to the murder and are set to be released.
Judge said because of the lack of sufficient evidence 18 people arrested in the case will be released.
According to (Khaama Press), 49 people were arrested into the brutal killing of a helpless Afghan girl during daylight in capital Kabul about a month and a half ago but judge said that the sentence of the remaining 19 suspects will be announced next week.
Their trial started on Saturday and expected to be completed next week. Security agencies are still looking for some suspects who have been identified but hiding.
The 28-year-old woman, called Farkhunda, was mercilessly lynched by dozens of angry people after she was accused of burning a copy of the holy Quran. But government bodies rejected all accusations after conducting investigation into the case.
The brutal act prompted vast demonstrations inside the country as well as abroad demanding "Justice for Farkhunda" and severe punishment for those responsible for the murder.
