Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held his first meeting on Tuesday with presidents of Chinese universities.
During the meeting, Sisi called on the Chinese professors to provide more scholarships and enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and training.
He also called for launching an Egyptian-Chinese initiative to expand joint cooperation, share Chinese-Egyptian science, technology and technical education so that Egypt could achieve the desired progress.
Many Chinese universities should be set up in Egypt to make good use of the Chinese scientific and technological progress, Sisi added.
The president called for the need to increase the number of Egyptian and Chinese students in both countries' universities, especially in the applied science's field.
For his part, Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that the Egyptian-Chinese relations have developed significantly due to the two countries' desire to deepen joint interests.
Shoukry added that Egypt seeks to make best use of the unique Chinese experience in the education field as evidenced by dispatching Egyptian students to study advanced technical education and opening 10 departments to teach the Chinese language.
Delivering a speech on behalf of presidents of Chinese universities, Professor Choi Shi Liu said that Egypt under President Sisi is going ahead with progress and prosperity, adding that Sisi's visit will boost cooperation between the two countries.
