The Patna University (PU) convocation, scheduled to be held on January 28, has once again been deferred by a day. Now theconvocation will be held on January 29, according to Raj Bhavan sources. It may be mentioned here that the convocation, which has not been held for the last three years, is being deferred time and again for one reason or the other. Facelift likely for B N College: B N College, a constituent unit of Patna University, is likely to get a facelift soon. A proposal for the renovation of the existing college buildings as well as construction of some new buildings is under the state government’s consideration. College principal Pramod Kumar Poddar said a new building for all the vocational courses running in the college is to be constructed after demolishing the old, dilapidated residential quarters of the principal and warden. Besides, an additional floor would be added to the existing examination building. A new seminar hall and conference hall are also to be constructed on the campus. He said the classrooms would also be modernized with the provision of latest teaching aids and the government has already provided infrastructural facilities for setting up an e-library in the college for the benefit of scholars. The main hostel located in front of the college would also be completely renovated, he added. Seminar on banking regulation: A two-day national seminar on “Uniform banking regulation – the urgent need for safety of low-income group investors” will be held at the PU applied economics and commerce department on February 22 and 23. Department head Chandrama Singh and seminar organizing secretary Ashim Lal Chakravorty said the main objective behind organizing this seminar is to find some concrete solutions relating to uniform banking regulations for saving the hard-earned money of poor investors. The money of these people are often lost in various scams involving non-banking financial companies and chit funds, they said. Career Tips: California State University’s information system associate professor Chetan Kumar gave valuable tips to the students of Sri Arvind Mahila College at an interactive session organized here on Friday. He exhorted the girls to avail the facilities of higher education in the US by choosing the right career. College principal Asha Singh welcomed the guests and music department head Reena Sahay introduced the purpose of the interactive session.
