Iran's cultural attache in Iraq Gholamreza Abazzar voiced his country's readiness to admit more Iraqi university students for the next semester.
In a meeting with Chancellor of the University of Karbala Munir Hamid al-Saadi, the two sides discussed ways of practicing previously-signed Memoranda of Understanding and agreements for expansion of educational cooperation.
The Iranian diplomat said in the meeting that the country's universities are capable of attracting thousands of foreign students, including Iraqi ones, in various branches of sciences.
Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.
Iran's standard universities, experienced professors and cost-effective studying fees have persuaded the foreign youth to prefer the country to any other destination for completing their higher education.
