Some 579 young women received their degrees at the Zayed University\'s 10th graduation ceremony held last night at the Dubai World Trade Centre. His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, presented the degrees in a glittering ceremony to the graduates in the colleges of Arts and Science, Business Sciences, Communication and Media Sciences, Education, Information Technology. Shaikh Mohammad also presented the degree to his daughter Shaikha Maryam Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Shaikha Maryam also delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating class. His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah; Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and other dignitaries attended the ceremony that was themed \"Dreams and Promises\". Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mub-arak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Zayed University, addressed the graduates and their families. In a packed auditorium filled with families, friends and wellwishers, the all-female class said the event was a culmination of years of hard work and that they were proud of their achievement. The federal Zayed University was founded for Emirati women in 1998 with campuses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It currently has some 6,000 male and female students enrolled from 19 countries.
