The Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AAU), Sultan Abu Orabi, has proposed allowing Arab students to enroll in universities in neighboring Arab countries, in a program modeled on the European approach.
Abu Orabi told Petra on Monday that the initiative would offer academic, educational and personal benefits, in particular providing Arab students with the opportunity to become acquainted with different universities in the Arab world.
His remarks came during ''Higher Education in Asia'' conference, which was held at the University of Dar al-Salaam in Brunei with the participation of 150 heads of Arab universities.
Abu Orabi spoke about the Association of Arab Universities's institutions and the efforts to train Arab students in Bruneian universities, referring to obstacles that face Arab universities, including the lack of funding and minimal preparation of faculty members as well as the brain-drain.
