The Arab League has praised the role of the Juma Al Majid Centre for Culture and Heritage in promoting the Arabic language by preserving manuscripts, and publishing said scripts, making them available to researchers.
Dr. Badr-Eddin Al-Alali, Assistant Secretary-General for Social Affairs of the League of Arab States and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Council for Arabic Language, accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Saad Al Hajri, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the League of Arab States visited the Juma Al Majid Centre to gain insight on the centre's activities and to foster closer cultural ties.
During the delegation tour, Juma Al Majid Centre representatives thanked the Arab League for selecting the centre as the Heritage Foundation of the Year, on the occasion of the Arab Manuscripts Day in April. The centre’s officials also discussed with the Arab League delegation many cultural issues, including how to better promote the Arabic language.
Dr. Mohammed Kamel Jad, Director General of the Juma Al Majid Centre, accompanied the delegation on a tour of the centre, beginning at the department of private libraries, where the delegation learned about the organisation's special collections.
The delegation also visited the digital lab, as well as the section in which original manuscripts are kept, which included some 17,000 documents. They then visited the library housing local and international catalogues, as well as the reading room, and were also informed about the services provided to researchers.
