HE the Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fetais Al Marri and President of the University of Jordan Dr Khalif Al Tarawneh signed an agreement to establish a chair at the University of Jordan to fight corruption.
The agreement, which was signed by HE the Attorney General in his capacity as the United Nations Special Advocate for the Prevention of Corruption, aimed to teach students there the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
Last year, Qatar University launched a chair to fight corruption.
The move is part of the Doha-based rule of law and anti-corruption center's effort in support of the work of the Special Advocate for the Prevention of Corruption.
Meanwhile, HE Dr Ali bin Fetais Al Marri delivered a lecture at the University of Jordan on the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the review mechanism of the Convention implementation, with a focus on prevention.
His Excellency addressed a number of topics related to the mechanisms of action of the UN Convention against Corruption and the independence of the judiciary and prosecutors.
The lecture was attended by a number of Jordanian officials and personalities, including the Minister of Justice, the Attorney General and the President of the Judicial Council, along with former Jordanian Prime Minister Awn Al Khasawneh and a number of deans of law faculties in various Jordanian universities, professors and students of the Faculty of Law.
