Nearly 300,000 new baccalaureate holders have been enrolled in different specialties for the academic year 2012-2013, said Sunday in Algiers Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Rachid Harraoubia. "A total of 253,905 new baccalaureate holders have been enrolled for the academic year 2012-2013, including 219,088 within the LMD (Licence, Master’s and Doctorate degrees) system, i.e. 86.29% of the new students," Harraoubia said on the sidelines of a national conference of heads of higher education institutions, devoted to the new academic year. For this year, 1,314,000 students are registered in 39 universities, 17 university centres, 18 national higher education institutes, 6 teachers’ training institutes and 10 preparatory institutes set up in 47 provinces of the country, he explained.
