Public school pupils in the emirate of Abu Dhabi can apply for scholarships online following the launch of a new system by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec). In a statement sent by the Adec yesterday, Salem Al Sayari, executive director of support services at the Adec, said the new online platform allows Emirati pupils to submit documents required for scholarship applications, follow up on announcements and also correspond with the Adec. The web portal will allow applicants to communicate with the Adec from around the world, and also support Abu Dhabi government green initiatives by digitizing 90 per cent of the paperwork, he added. Scholarship applications for the 2012-2013 academic year can be submitted between June 3 and June 21, announced Mona Majed Al Mansoori, Adec’s division manager for guidance and scholarship. These scholarships are available for high-achieving Emirati students with Grade 12 or equivalent graduation certificates, and offer financial support to enable top performers to continue their education.
