Ukrainian Ambassador to Jordan Sergi Basco said his country has proposed to Jordan to transfer around 3,500 Jordanian students from unstable regions in his country to safer and more secure areas towards the country’s west and to the capital Kiev.
The ambassador added that he had met with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Amin Mahmoud and proposed that more Ukrainian universities be accredited, adding that the minister agreed to examine the issue.
In a press conference in Amman to mark the 18th anniversary of adoption of the constitution in Ukraine, he also pointed to the possibility of taking a positive decision on accrediting more Ukrainian universities.
Basco voiced appreciation for Jordan, His Majesty the King and representative of Jordan at the UN Security Council Prince Zeid Bin Raad for their support to his country during its crisis with Russia, mainly at the UN.
On trade exchange between Jordan and his country, he said it was adversely affected by the situation in the Middle East.
Ukraine's exports to Jordan during the first four months of this year declined by 11 per cent reaching $151 million compared to $446 million last year.
