The Seattle high school shooting last Friday claimed yet another life as one of the wounded teenagers was reported dead, said hospital officials Monday.
Officials at the Proidence Regional Medical Center Everett confirmed the death of 14-year-old Gia Soriano, tallying the death toll of the cafeteria shooting to three, while another three remain hospitalized, two in a critical condition and another in a serious condition.
The shooter, Jaylen Fryberg, was among the death toll in the incident that occurred in the high school approximately 50 kilometers north of Seattle in the state of Washington.
Circumstances or motive behind the incident are unclear yet, especially with reports indicating that a teacher intervened and attempted to stop the shooter.
Doctor Joanne Roberts read a statement from the Soriano family that said "we are devastated by this senseless tragedy. Gia is our beautiful daughter, and words cannot express how much we will miss her," noting that the family will donate her organs for transplant.
Some media reports claimed that two of the three hospitalized teenagers are actually cousins of the shooter.
