Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri (L)
Paris - QNA

HE Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fetais Al Marri, in his capacity as chairman of the Qatari-French School VOLTAIRE, signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Sorbonne, Paris 1 in the French Republic. It came after the agreement signed by the two sides on 29 September 2009 at the headquarters of the university, where the signatory parties agreed to strengthen the Qatari-French ties in education and further education in legal and economic and management sciences, in addition to the fields of arts and humanities and social sciences.
The agreement comes within the continued efforts to develop bilateral relations in education and achieve the convergence of scientific and educational relations, as the two parties, chairman of Qatari-French school and the University of Sorbonne, decided to renew the agreement for a period of five years in order to put in place a solid mechanism for cooperation between the two institutions and to facilitate the enrollment of Qatari-French School VOLTAIR secondary students in the University of Sorbonne Paris 1 starting from 2015-2016.
This cooperation comes also in light of the rapid developments in scientific and educational fields in Qatar in addition to the unprecedented demand from more than thirty foreign nationalities living in the State of Qatar for enrollment in the Qatari-French school, and the increased number of students from both the Qatari and French communities seeking school enrollment.
For its part, the University of Sorbonne expressed its full readiness to support and strengthen cooperation between the two sides in order to build a balanced scientific and educational partnership to prepare Qatari students wishing to enroll in the university.
HE the Attorney General met Christian Masset, Permanent Secretary of the French Ministry of Foreign and International Development, where they exchanged views on how to promote Qatari-French cooperation in Francophone education and activate more mechanisms for joint action between them to advance the education and science education for better scientific results and prepare a generation of students capable of meeting the contemporary scientific and cultural challenges.
