World Youth Day
Kuwait - KUNA

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah on Monday called for creating jobs for the youth in the educational and vocational fields in order to integrate them in the public life.
In a statement by the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs on the eve of the World Youth Day (WYD), Sheikh Salman affirmed Kuwait's keenness on giving free rein to the youth to play a greater role in the public life and promote mutual understanding with the state institutions.
"The youth rights to education, work, healthcare and decent housing are enshrined in the Kuwaiti constitution with a view to enhancing their competitive edge," he pointed out.
"The Ministry and the concerned departments are commemorating this year's WYD in collaboration with the UN and the civil society institutions.
"While implementing the youth policy, we seek to learn from the international experiences in engaging the youth in the quest for sustainable development," Sheikh Salman went on.
He noted that the State of Kuwait attaches great importance to sports and recreation facilities which made outstanding achievements in promoting the skills of youth as shown in the international sports events.
He lauded the Kuwait youth who asserted themselves internationally and maintained their national cultural and historical identity.
The minister extolled His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Cabinet for prioritizing the youth issues, and backing the launching of the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs and "Kuwait hears initiative." He indicated that the Ministry, graced with the support of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, was able to launch the small enterprise fund, and implement the recommendations of Kuwait hears initiative and the youth care policy.
Sheikh Salman also appreciated the efforts made by the personnel of the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs who were able to overcome the challenges of their task in a professional and dedicated way.
He congratulated the Kuwaiti youth on the occasion of the WYD, which falls tomorrow, Tuesday, voicing confidence in their ability to live up to the level of expectations pinned on them.
