Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain and Chairman of the Specific Council for Vocational Training (Banking Sector) Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj has stressed the importance and value of specialised, high-quality education to support the growing needs of the financial sector.
The programmes offered by BIBF in collaboration with leading international universities, especially in the fields of accounting, banking and Islamic finance serves to enhance the calibre of local human capital.
The statement was made during a ceremony held at the Central Bank of Bahrain to honour Maryam Khaled Mahmoud, a recent Accounting & Finance graduate of the Bangor University undergraduate programme provided at BIBF. The 21-year old Bahraini was granted the Craig Williams Memorial Award for the best performance in the Bangor Business School.
BIBF Deputy Director Dr. Ahmad Al Shaikh attended the graduation ceremony held at Bangor University in the United Kingdom where 74 students, representing BIBF’s seventh graduating cohort, received their undergraduate degrees.
Dr. Al Shaikh expressed his pride and appreciation for the outstanding performance achieved by BIBF students enrolled in the international programmeas compared to their counterparts from the lead university.
The achievement of Ms. Mahmoud reflects on the superiority of the academic programmes at BIBF in line with global standards. "The BIBF programme presented the best of both worlds for me. I wanted to study abroad and earn a prestigious undergraduate degree but was reluctant to leave home for four years. BIBF’s undergraduate programme offered an ideal solution. The teaching quality and the level of support I received at both institutions was equally exceptional", she noted.
She now intends to undertake the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)programme at BIBF to complement her academic degree with an established professional qualification.
